High Performance Mindfulness

High Performance Mindfulness (HPM) is the flagship digital learning program created by performance mindset coach Emma Murray. It adapts the highly successful work she has done with elite sportspeople, including her contribution to three AFL Premierships with the Richmond Football Club and championship wins with drivers Scott McLaughlin and Oscar Piastri. The HPM program gives individuals and organisations the skills they need to bring their ‘A-Game’ when the pressure is on.

The plan was to take Emma’s popular in-person teaching style and translate it into a scalable, high-quality digital solution. We targeted three key sectors: Schools (specifically Year 11 and 12 students), corporate organisations and the general public.

Objectives and Goals

The main aim here was to build a solid e-learning infrastructure quickly so we could reach a wide audience straight away.

  • Launch Priority: We needed to develop and deliver the Schools program by early 2022 to catch the start of the academic year.

  • Scalability: The goal was to create a single source of content that we could easily deliver across different platforms, whether public-facing or private corporate systems.

  • Accessibility: We wanted to provide a secure and easy-to-use learning experience for the public through a dedicated online store.

  • Impact: Ultimately, the goal was to drive real improvements in performance for everyone taking the course.

My Role and Responsibilities

I acted as the Lead E-Learning Architect and Developer. I looked after the entire lifecycle of the digital program, from planning the platform strategy to building the courses and launching them.

My key responsibilities included:

  • Platform Strategy: figuring out the technical requirements for the website, e-commerce, CRM and the often complex Learning Management System (LMS) landscape.

  • Course Authoring: designing and building all the module content for both the Schools and Corporate programs using the Evolve authoring tool.

  • Content Development: creating interactive assets to support the learning, such as Interactive PDFs and custom resources.

  • Public Delivery Setup: customising and setting up Thinkific as the platform for the public to buy and access courses.

  • Enterprise Delivery Setup: setting up a secure way to deliver content to client LMSs using SCORM and HTML exports hosted in Amazon S3.

Process and Approach

I focused on keeping the content centralised while maintaining technical flexibility and security. This ensured the HPM content could fit into any client’s existing setup.

  • Platform Strategy: After an initial look at the requirements, we decided on a hybrid approach. We used Thinkific for public self-service users and SCORM/HTML via Amazon S3 for enterprise and school clients who needed to integrate the course with their own systems.

  • Course Authoring (Evolve): All the core content was built and kept in Evolve. This gave us a single source of truth, making it easy to roll out updates and keep the branding consistent everywhere.

  • Content Separation: We decided to embed video and audio assets, like the meditations, from an external source rather than packing them inside the SCORM files. This was a strategic move to ensure faster loading times and allowed us to update assets globally without having to redeploy complex course packages.

  • Deployment & Testing: We exported courses in both SCORM and HTML formats. I ran thorough tests across several common LMS environments to make sure everything tracked correctly before we deployed to the secure Amazon S3 environment.

Key Features or Solutions

  • Hybrid E-Learning Architecture: We successfully set up a dual-delivery model. This included a direct-to-consumer platform on Thinkific and a B2B model using SCORM/HTML delivery via Amazon S3, which really maximised our reach.

  • Centralised Content Management: By using Evolve for authoring, we ensured the branding was consistent and made the process of updating content across public and enterprise versions much faster.

  • Decoupled Media Strategy: We built a system where high-bandwidth media, such as videos and meditations, were embedded and managed externally. This solved the need for easy asset updates and fixed the issue of slow loading times or file size limits that you often get with traditional SCORM packages.

Challenges and How They Were Overcome

The tricky part of this project was handling the fragmented nature of the education and enterprise technology landscape.

Challenge: Varied School LMS Compatibility Solution & Implementation: We focused our development on strictly adhering to the SCORM standard and created HTML5 exports as a backup. We did extensive testing across different platforms to catch and fix known issues with common school LMS platforms, ensuring it worked regardless of the tech complexity.

Challenge: Content Update Dependency Solution & Implementation: By hosting the core e-learning content in Amazon S3 and embedding the media externally, we separated asset management from the course delivery. This allowed us to update videos and meditations instantly via the hosting service without schools or corporates needing to re-upload massive SCORM packages.

Results and Impact

The project was a massive success. We met all the critical launch deadlines and established a scalable digital blueprint for the HPM brand.

  • Successful Launch: The Schools program launched by early 2022, meeting our top priority and generating revenue from the education sector immediately.

  • Exceptional Reception: The platform, modules and delivery mechanism were very well received by the client’s internal team and the external users, including students and executives.

  • Scalability Established: The hybrid architecture means the HPM program can now enrol thousands of users globally via the direct-to-consumer site while simultaneously serving large enterprise clients through seamless LMS integration.
